Submissions for the 2012 Kitschies open on 1 June 2012
The Kitschies celebrate progressive, intelligent and entertaining books that contain fantastic or speculative elements. All submissions should keep these criteria in mind.
All queries should be sent to submissions@thekitschies.com. Please contact us before submitting book(s), and we will provide you with the addresses and details required.
When emailing, please include the author, title and UK publication date for each book. There is no submission fee for The Kitschies, but all submissions require two physical copies of each submitted book. Posting instructions are provided through the email address above.
All submissions must be received by 1 December 2012.
Only novels first published in the UK between 1 January and 31 December 2012 are eligible for submission for the Red Tentacle (Novel) or Golden Tentacle (Debut).
Additionally, a book is only eligible for the Golden Tentacle if it is the author's first novel in any genre. The author may have previously published short stories, non-fiction, screenplays and collections, so long as none of the works collected are of novel length.
Inky Tentacle (Cover Art) submissions must be editions published in the UK this calendar year. Anthologies and collections are eligible for this prize, as are reprints or paperback editions, as long as the cover is new. Please note, this is a change from last year's criteria.
Submissions for the Inky Tentacle must include the name or names of the artists and designers involved.
There is no application process for the Black Tentacle, it is awarded at the discretion of the judges.
