The Kitschies

Now open for submissions

The Kitschies reward the year's most progressive, intelligent and entertaining works that contain elements of the speculative or fantastic. Now in our sixth year, we are proud to present a new sponsor - Fallen London, the award-winning browser game of a dark and mysterious London, designed by Failbetter Games.

As part of the new Fallen London sponsorship, The Kitschies are also proud to announce a new category - the Invisible Tentacle, for progressive, intelligent and entertaining fiction that is natively digital.

The Kitschies' 2013 finalists were selected from a record 234 submissions, from over fifty publishers and imprints. Congratulations to the winners: Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being (Red Tentacle), Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice (Golden Tentacle), Will Staehle's cover for The Age Atomic (Inky Tentacle) and Children's Laureate Malorie Blackman (Black Tentacle).
